Basic Facts

Membership Numbers

The current bargaining unit size (all TA's and PA's) is 2800. Nearly 1600 eligible employees have signed membership cards. If you aren't a member, sign up today! The more members we have the stronger our negotiation power is with the state for our new contract.

Who the Co-Presidents are

Kaja Rebane is a Teaching Assistant in the Business School, though her academic departments are Environmental Studies and Agricultural and Applied Economics. She has been an active member of the TAA since 2006 and chaired the Organizing Committee for the '06-'07 academic year.

Mark Supanich is a Research Assistant in the Department of Medical Physics. He has been an active TAA member since 2005 and chaired the Political Education Committee for the '06-'07 academic year.

Affiliations with Other Organizations

The TAA is part of a national and international labor community, and as such we are associated with and are active members in a variety of organizations. As an American Federation of Teachers (AFT) local we pay dues to and enjoy the benefits of belonging to both the state and national AFT federations and the AFL-CIO. The TAA also takes an active role in various organizations focusing on higher education issues.
